Water Crisis

About two billion people worldwide lack access to safe drinking water, and roughly half of the world’s population experiences severe water scarcity for at least part of the year.

UNICEF estimates that 700 million people could be displaced by intense water scarcity by 2030.

The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) predicts that 1.8 billion people will face “absolute water scarcity” by 2026.

Across the world, billions of people have no choice but to drink tainted and potentially harmful water, which puts them at risk of dying and exposes vulnerable populations to a wide range of debilitating diseases. Women and children are compelled to spend hours of their day, every day, traversing potentially dangerous terrain in order to collect clean water. Instead, they should be at home, in school, thriving, and content.
